Levitaz Armchair — Bronze

Project type

Collectible design · Bronze casting

The piece

Levitaz Armchair by Katz Studio gives a folded, fabric-like form the permanence of bronze. The seat, arms and back flow into one another through broad surfaces and deep creases. Seen from the front, rear and close up, the chair balances the familiar outline of an armchair with the presence of a sculpture. Its polished finish makes every change of direction visible, bringing light and reflection into the reading of the piece.

The process

Casting establishes the components; assembly and welding bring them together; detailed surface work resolves the transitions. The production sequence shows separate bronze parts, preparation of their surfaces and work on the assembled chair, followed by close polishing.

The demanding part of this geometry is continuity: seams and tool marks must be worked back without flattening a ridge or softening the character of a fold. The photographs and workshop footage trace that careful progression, from individual cast elements to a unified reflective surface.
